The new Nissan X-Trail is due to go on sale in July 2014 and will have the option of either five or seven seats with rear doors have been designed to open to a wide 80-degree angle to make it easier to load a child seat.
The X-Trail will come with a choice of either two – or four-wheel drive, the two wheel drive offering lower emissions and better fuel consumption and while the four wheel drive has greater ability on rough terrain.
The new X-Trail has improved aerodynamics and lightened making it possible for smaller more economical engines to be fitted. Engine details have not yet been announced.
There will be a number of electronic systems fitted on the new car, including Active Ride Control Active Trace Control, and Hill Descent Control systems.
The X-Trail will have the latest Nissan Connect multimedia system, displayed on a seven-inch touch-screen. In the certain models the system will incorporate satellite-navigation, Smart phone connectivity and Bluetooth audio streaming. Leather upholstery will be available as an option. Higher range models will feature all-LED headlights, a full-length sunroof and 19-inch alloy wheels.
With a longer wheelbase than the previous model and front seat backs with a more scalloped shape, this has created more leg room for rear passengers. The boot has a double-height load surface making it possible for large items to be stored at the bottom of the boot with smaller items stowed above at the same time. The boot can hold 10kg of luggage in its highest position and 75kg in its lower position.
