A van that costs “two bacon rolls a day” to own has been launched by Mercedes-Benz this week.
Mercedes Citan Panel Van
The Citan – a small van in the same vein as Renault’s Kangoo and Citroen’s Berlingo – starts at £13,095 for the 108 CDI Compact but its makers have said it can be leased for just £6.95 a day, which the German firm says is about the same as two bacon rolls would cost.
Steve Bridge, Van Sales and Marketing Director for Mercedes-Benz UK, said: “The new Citan is certainly creating a stir within the van industry. Right from the day we released the first sketches the level of interest was and has been relentless.
”We have a lot of interest across the entire Citan model range and we’re now in a position as a manufacturer to offer a compact van, capable of carrying up to 735 kg with a small footprint, which is ideal for both retail and business customers.“
The Citan arrives in Mercedes’ commercial showrooms later this January
